After being found innocent in the shooting search of a 16 year old black kid, Officer Arieus Hatch finds himself in jail for an unrelated charge. Due to jail overcrowding, he's forced to share a cell with Pete Turner(American Boy), who is appealing a previous conviction. While initially the two Men clash over obvious reasons, eventually they settle their differences. It's then where Arieus finds the strength to spill out his life story to Pete. Filled with pain, trauma and dysfunction, he vividly details some of the countless incidents that turned him into an American Maniac.
