Derry Rafferty has always despised and the sea ever since her twin brother, Doran, was washed away in a tidal wave. Being fifteen and in Los Angelas, where hanging out at the beach is the norm, Derry quickly became the outcast in her school-the odd ones out. She's haunted by the memory of her dead brother and nothing helps the pain until comes face to face with her fear-standing at the very beach where her brother was killed, and then she herself gets swept away. To her surprise, she lands in another dimension, called the Other World. She thought her life was over when Doran died, but it had only just begun.
