Melissa gulped. She took slow and steady steps not even daring to look down nor behind , as if the void would reflect the girl behind her. One more step. The thin, wooden plank was barely sustaining her weight. She closed her eyes, unconsciously letting her recent unpleasant memories consume her. Suddenly, a cold breeze flew by her exposed injury, making her heart beat almost insanely. Her eyes shot open. Panicking, she started to run, immediately regretting that decision. The plank cracked beneath her right leg, making it slide through the hole it created, now sprinkled with wood chips. Melissa cried , feeling the wood pierce her skin. "Oopsie." A whispered made it's way to her ears, before the plank cracked completely and she fell into the dark, hungry abyss.
