I heard from other kids in my class that you could always tell weather or not your parents would divorce based on how much they argue, mine never argued. My twin brother, Alex, and I never expected our parents to split. My family lived in the same house in Iowa since before the day Alex and I were born, and my mom never wanted to leave.

When I was ten, my dad got offered a job, it was what he wanted to do his whole life, but it was all the way in Santa Monica. He had the choice, my mom or the job... he chose the job.

Before I knew it, him and Alex were on a plane to California, leaving us behind. I never understood why they would separate Alex and I. I lost touch with my brother, not really expecting to ever see him, and i kind of moved on with my life.

Half way through junior year, my mom got in a car crash on her way from work and spent a week in the hospital before passing a way. I don't think my dad or Alex were ever informed.

About a month later, I was diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety. My therapist decided that it would be best to live with my grandma for the rest of junior year, before leaving my old life behind and moving in with my dad.

My name is Amber Johnson and this is just my backstory, and it leads me to where I am now, getting off the airplane at LAX.
