Humanity is saved from extinction. Having ventured further than ever thought possible, the miner class ships have brought back near endless amounts of minerals and fuels. In 2158, scientist and ex-marine Daniel Clarke has found a living being a miner on board the first miner ship, the Invictus. He does what he does best: mining. However one day, he and his crew find a device, codenamed "the fountain of youth", on the mysterious planet called Throne 5. They have found the cure for death and bring the device aboard the ship. After a nuclear war nearly in 2150 the whole Earth has become uninhabitable for humans. There are some major cities which are still running but have very scarce resources such as food, water and oil. There are tall, thick walls protecting people from the outside world, surrounding the whole city and there is a ceiling, blocking the radiation from seeping in as air is filtered through the roof.
