Naruto isn't the person you thought he was. That Naruto was a mask. Once that mask comes down the village will be in for a shock. How will his teammates deal with the real Naruto.
Gaara is different then the one everyone knows. He had a mask and once the time is right he plans to discard that mask and show everyone the real him.
