Nero Lucius, and Caelia Horatius have been best friends ever since they met in the marketplace as toddlers. Their families quickly became acquainted, with their fathers even going into business together.

One day, after many years of partnership, and friendship, the Lucius family loses all of their wealth, and are captured, to be sold as slaves. Caelia tries to bid on Nero, however, it is too late, and Nero is sold off to a gladiator school. Caelia must try to find him, before he fights his last battle.
