I did not sleep. I did not eat. I did not laugh. I did not smile. I was only breathing because I lacked the courage to stop myself from breathing. Then he appeared in a blur of shiny white teeth and a rush of heart beats. The sight of this boy brought the first smile my face had worn since that day in the hospital. He emanated happiness.
