But The sight in front of him made him mad and jealous. All the fresh air disappeared. 

There were two boys holding hands, smiling. 
But the couple in front of them made Xavier mad.

It was his lover.

Cody's hands were intertwined with a girl.

And they were laughing.

Either Cody is definitely straight or he is making fun of Xavier, especially when he told him that he has feelings for him.
