Imperfect Heroes series B1: Broken Souls "Life is life. And life sucks." That is Maxlar Whishling's phrase he lives by. There's no changing the past, but there is changing your future. He bravely tells the story of what has happened to him. What life has thrown at him. Destined from birth to be a villain, Maxlar Whishling has consistently rebelled and followed his heart's desire to be the good guy. Faced with heartbreak and loss, Maxlar struggles to stay alive in a world full of ruin and those ready to cut out his heart. Teamed up with outcasts and unlikely good guys, Maxlar and his friends face the dark opponents of their world and prove themselves to be more than they seem. They prove themselves to be heroes. Not perfect heroes, but heroes. (Contains strong language. Might contain sexual content, but won't be graphic or will be rare and spread out.)

Victor Halcomb has the perfect life. Perfect parents, perfect friends, perfect 4.0 GPA, even a perfect, athletic boyfriend. Of course, no one ever stops to think about how quickly that can all be taken. Over the course of three days, Victor suddenly find himself without parents, without a boyfriend, hours away from his old school, and dropped right into a new one. And this new school doesn't take too well to new kids. For the first time in his life, Victor experiences what it's like to be an outcast, to be isolated and bullied by people he doesn't even know. He is forced to survive his last two years of high school in a place that hates his very existence. Victor has to decide if he can manage this, and get his life together, or allow himself to sink down permanently. (WARNING: Alcohol/drug abuse, mentions of attempted suicide, self-mutilation)
