Flames are licking her body, just tasting her and leaving lovely patterns behind. Angry red swirls and curves; telling the stories of letters never sent, of long lost lovers and passions refusing to be forgotten. Sores; the only witnesses of the fear of war. Of the sound of the raging canons, the clash of swords. Of the lives lost over foolish battles no one even believed on. Dark splutters; for the nights near bonfires. Dancing around the flames to the beat of the night life, darkness consuming you. Celebrating the rituals of already forgotten religions, and dead gods. Blisters, narrating legends of knights in shining armor, looking for glory and treasure, but finding only the flames of death. Burns; recalling all those homes turned ablaze in the dead of night, and the people who in there perished. The fire is spreading so fast, it is now the only thing to be distinguished, an ocean of reds and oranges, a sea of light, engulfing her in anguish. She is drowning in the flames, flames that now order her to rest. Lynn has always been hunted by the inferno within her.

A maiden must marry into nobility to uphold honour in her family's name. However, when her soon-to-be husband is burned alive by a fiery creature, she realizes there's more to life than just suitors and balls. ~·~·~ As a woman, Alyria Willows is expected to cast aside her pursuit of independence to fulfil her duties as an acquiescent housewife; all for the sake of one's honour not even her own. However, the veil isn't as pellucid as Alyria thinks when a devastating upheaval leaves her grasping for answers. It's only after surviving a terrifying experience that she discovers more than blood flows through her veins. But that'll be the least of her concerns when a creature neither man nor dragon stalks her from the shadows. His gaze pierces like iron. His power radiates like lava. But even a man of his strength cannot hinder the threat that seeks to destroy. A ballet of starlight foretells a restless war. Lies will be unearthed, truths will be muddled, and victories will come at a steep price. But not everything is as it seems.
