The vampire world is strictly ruled by one thing - blood type. Not pureblood or mutt, but the biological blood types studied in school. Ordered by rarity and compatibility, the everyday interactions between vampires are often dangerous and political in nature. In fact, drinking the blood of someone - human or vampire - that is incompatible with one's own can be detrimental to his or her health.
One such vampire is Calla, a newly turned vamp with O positive blood. Learning to navigate this underground world will take some time, especially since she doesn't really know her blood type - yet. After all, one is strongly encouraged to avoid foods that make you sick, isn't she?
Calla is being followed, too. She doesn't know by who, but she'll find out eventually. This person is either her saving grace, or her doom. Worst of all - she doesn't know which.
