The history between Riders and Humans has been an unpleasant one, and since the Great Division, the two races have lost all connection. But the trouble is, they are not the only ones fighting for a position in the world. Darker beings exist, and lurk in hiding. And their wait is almost over.
When Elvira becomes of age, she is allowed freedom from the clutches of Cordova Church and Orphanage, and for the first time in her life, she finds herself completely alone. Or maybe not. As her mischievous past begins to catch up with her, she finds herself fleeing away from the squalor of Suddene, her only home, into the only place she can escape to.
But upon fleeing into some place new, she begins to experience, well, something new. With news of the rising evil that promises war upon the doorstep of the entire world, Elvira finds herself in need of her own army to match her new found gift.
