【 573 A.D. (Anno Draco - in the year of the dragon) 】
【 Five hundred sixty-two years since the beasts crawled from the earth in 1811. 】

As heir to the Upkeeper of Solada (once the sprawling land of America), 17-year-old Cecil has plans to make amends to the nation, specifically aiding the Azurdins, the centuries-oppressed people who await a savior.
However, Solada begins to crumble when Cecil's father banishes the Azurdins to the Outermost, the land of the beasts encircling Solada. As war breaks out and riots plague his home, Cecil must discover his role in the midst of chaos.

Despite the odds stacked against him, Cecil clings to the belief that he was meant to be a hero. Though his catalyst could lie within an unlikely ally, the world may reject him.

For it is hardly what it seems.

FORMER TITLE: Élan: A Youngblood World "Beware that you become not the very monster you ought to slay." In a world where magic holds the essence to life, there is still no telling where fate determines your place will be. When the Cardinal Empire of Nyrhaea and its time-forsaken creatures declare war on the human world, an immortal dark entity in the guise of a human, a grieving swordsman, an electric-manipulating technocrat, an unhinged fire-breathing boy, and a magic-less girl whose very existence defies the Laws of Mahika, venture to stop the prophecied, apocalyptic world war. All the while dealing with the complications of entering adulthood. With the grotesque inside him growing hungrier by the day, threatening him of the looming hour to fulfill destiny's bidding to be the key to the end of the world--where death is an impossible remedy to attain--the entity resorts to a mysterious girl who could only be his last hope to achieve freedom from the shackles of fate. No one ever knows the whole story... Nestled deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, something is emerging. Kept in absolute secrecy, it seeps into a fading town, quietly shared from person to person. For Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate, this discovery could mean an escape from his empty existence. To Rachel DuValle, perpetually underestimated and dismissed by the world, magic represents a chance to become something much greater than herself. In the face of an unsuspecting world, their decisions shape the growth of a budding society discovering untold power. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever - or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. ----- The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series. New chapters will be posted on Fridays for as long as it takes to tell the whole story. For Wattpad only, chapters are split up by individual scenes-if you would prefer the whole chapters in single pieces, please visit my homepage or another site where I post this story, thanks! With powers like these, he was sure to lead his friends to their destiny of ending the war.
