A scream fills my lungs.
The night terrors are probably the worst part... No, there is no worst or easiest part of this messed up shitty life that I live.
I sit up, wipe the sweat off of my forehead, and reach for the water already waiting for me on my nightstand. A daily routine. I take large, slow breaths attempting to calm my beating heart.
I get up seeing no chance of falling back to sleep and head across the room for the light switch. As I do I stub my toe on my brother's mp3 player. I quickly pick it up and examine it making sure no damage was applied it, looks okay to me. I sit down in the middle of the floor lights still off, grab a pair of ear buds off of my nightstand and press play. The first song that plays is Hotel California by Eagles. I smile at the memory of Michael yelling for me to help him download songs onto the expensive piece of metal. He has the best taste in music. The second song is Happiness by The Fray. His favorite song. Pain rushes through my body. My heels jab into the carpet and my nails dig into my palm so deep that any moment blood would break free. My voice comes out in a sharp, painful croak.
God I miss him so much.
