Denise was told that liking the same gender was bad. And she was scared to tell her mother her sexuality, afraid that her mother was like those people. So she didn't tell anyone for so long.

If you were to go to her high school, the kids would shun you for it. Bully you, tease you... Hurt you. Denise was scared to say it aloud and pretend to like the opposite gender her whole teen years. Then Junior year came around and she couldn't help but be attracted to the new girl, Nahtaya.

Nahtaya was very beautiful and kind, but the only problem was, well for Denise anyways, was that she was straight.

She was so torn when Nahtaya had accepted a boy's confession, her cousin to be exact. She was so jealous of him that it was awkward between them all. Denise was well aware that her cousin was so harsh on Nahtaya.

So she let her cry to her, be her vent, outlet.

Then one day, Nahtaya had left her cousin, saying that they grew apart and she saw him nothing but a friend.

Denise saw this as her chance.

But it was too late so say anything.. The school year ended and she had to wait until next year.

Nahtaya was the same, so beautiful and kind. Denise decided to keep her feelings shut away after witnessing a boy confess to one of his friends. They made fun of him and he switched schools the following month.

Denise then gathered courage after her mom accepted her. She was going to tell Nahtaya about her feelings.

Honestly want to try and work really hard on this book! I'm doing this for Pride Month because why not? There are some people who are so uncomfortable and insecure with coming out. And I have a friend who was like that, but I helped her during our school year and she's happy with the love of her life right now. I really want more people to accept it and have more courage of speaking out. Impossible but a start right? So please help me with this book 😊
