All Semaj's life her family has kept secrets from her. Semaj barely knows her siblings , mother , or grandmother. She only knows her aunt Elizabeth who raised Semaj as her own since she was 4 years old. She has conversed with her long distant family a couple times but that's about it. She grew curious about her family in New York and wanted to get to know them. Semaj was going to be a senior this upcoming fall so she decided to ask Elizabeth could she stay the summer in New York . That question made Elizabeth's stomach drop to her knees as bad as she wanted to say no she told her yes . Telling her yes made Elizabeth uneasy because all she could think about was what could go wrong ? But she put that thought in the back of her head and started to help her get things together so she could send her on her way. What secretes has the Makenzie family been hiding for all these years ? Will Elizabeth regret sending Semaj to New York ?
