Brandon Lee is your average preteen. Except he's Korean-American and has a superpower and a ghostly being residing in his body. Not your typical life. He's been running for a very long time, and it's not hard to see why.
Lately, the government has been going hard on the specials laws that usually protect the people with powers like Brandon. They have given permission to people to begin testing on these specials, forcing many to flee. People have been encouraged to seek out these specials and to turn them in for a reward.
Along the way, Brandon meets Ashley, another special. Together, they run around the country, trying to find a place where they can seek refuge, while also learning more and more about one another.
Follow the two teenagers as they flee deeper into the woods.
Follow Brandon as he explores Ashley's dark past.
Follow Ashley as she realizes that Brandon is also not who he seems.
(Hey guys. So, this is my second attempt at Not What He Seems. This time, it is in its own universe and not at all affiliated with the PJO universe. I wanted to see whether the book would work as a standalone. The original will not be deleted, even though it was pretty terrible.

While his family adapted quickly-his mother becoming a caregiver and his father earning respect as a hunter-Nathan struggled to adjust. Life in the village felt foreign, and he struggled with survival skills. Assigned a harsh mentor, Nathan faced frustration and mistreatment but showed persistence. After standing up to bullies, he earned some respect, and his mentor began to soften, though Nathan still felt like an outsider, unsure if he would ever belong, Nathan never thought what his life will be like in the next 10 years. Full of journeys and unexpected turns he never thought would come true, He just wants to go home....
Loves Me Not
"I may not remember much, but I do know that I had the best time with you last night." Charlie drops his hand from his mouth and lifts his head to stare into my eyes, pushing his hair back from his face at the same time. "And I know this is awkward now, because I'm pretty sure we were both naked together in bed last night..." I choke on air, trying to dispel the imaginary object from my throat. Charlie reaches out and lightly grasps my hand; my eyes slide from our interlocked fingers to his shining pupils. "...but I still wouldn't change a single thing about it. So, I really do look forward to hearing from you later, Kaiydeen." It's like I've been taken hostage by his electric stare. I don't want to look away. I never want to look away. The busy noises of the street and the honking of the traffic fade as I lose focus, nothing strong enough to force my attention away from this boy. Finally, Archer loudly clears his throat as he flings his door open and plops into the car with a huff, breaking the trance between the two of us. I look away as I withdraw my hand from his grasp, trying to figure out what the hell just happened. This is going to be a long 6 months. ●●● Kaiydeen has always known what she wanted, more like who, but she never knew exactly how to get it. So she's complacent with biding her time until it, actually he, comes to her; no matter how long that takes. But then one day she crashes into someone she doesn't expect. Someone that has always had an eye for her, and he isn't satisfied with biding his time until she's his. But when the one person she's always wanted admits he wants her, too, she's forced to make a choice. Should she go for the boy she just met or the boy she's always known? There is some use of mature language in this story, so if your eyes are innocent and you want them to stay that way this might not be the story for you. "Oomph!" The sound rushed out of my mouth as the door opened before I could reach the handle and my body hit a wall. I took a step back and realized that it wasn't in fact a wall, but instead a very attractive male. I looked up at his head to see a very messy, but sexy, mop of black hair on top of his head. When I looked closer, I noticed that his hair was a very deep brown that was probably often mistaken for black. My gaze traveled downward to his eyes, where I found two deep, ocean blue eyes looking back at me. My gaze travelled farther down to his crooked nose, to which I assumed came from too many fights. My eyes finally found his pink, very plump lips, which were turned into a sneer. "You have got to be kidding me!" His pink lips said in a very offensive voice. My eyes turned questioning as I looked back up into his eyes. "Whatever, lets finish this. I, Ashton Carter, reject you, as my mate." He, or Ashton, said with venom lacing his voice. He quickly turned and walked down the now vacant hallway with no glance back. Rejection? On my first day? The first person I make eye contact with at this school, rejects me. I guess that's how this school works, if the hottest boy in school rejects you, you're a nobody. So much for making friends, or mates, or whatever they call people at this school. I shake those ocean blue eyes out of my head and continue into the office to start my new life.Complete

I stumble backwards slightly before a hand wraps around my waist, keeping me from falling. Looking up, I realize this wasn't a wall, but instead a very attractive male. A very messy, but definitely sexy, mop of black hair sat on top of his head. When I looked closer, I realized that it was a deep shade of brown that was probably often mistaken for black. My gaze traveled to his eyes, where I found two deep ocean blue eyes looking at me. I kept going further down to his too crooked nose to be called straight, which I assumed came from too many fights. His skin was tanned, but an olive tone suggested he had a natural darker complexion to begin with. My eyes finally found his pink, very plump lips which were resting slightly open. His lips jerked up into a lopsided sneer as his hand snapped back to his side. The sudden movement left my back cold, as if his palm had been a source of warmth. "You've got to be kidding me!" His tone dripped with disgust. My eyes turned to questioning as I looked back up into his eyes. I brought my hand up to rub my nose, squinting at the slight pain. "What the hell." He grumbled.
