Shrouded within the subterranean realm of the Underdark, Falanhor Daelass finds that nothing is easy. Not magic, not fighting, not love... not even keeping his head upon his shoulders. Being a lower class man in a matriarchal theocracy, this might be expected, but it is made infinitely more difficult when he begins to understand just how corrupt his nation is and how much what he loves means to him. Furthermore? He's /knows/ he's destined for something more. He just knows.

  Note: This is a collection of short stories set anywhere from a couple months to a couple years after each other, so it won't read like a normal book.

Their success is limited, confining the demons to the eastern part of their world. Twenty odd years ago, a Demon Lord rose up and once again upset the balance of the world. With another invasion, he conquered the world and eradicated the most magnificent race in the world and robbing their goddess of her people. Soon after, the Demon Lord is betrayed, his empire crumbling. The goddess is on the brink of death, the last princess of her people enslaved and abused and with no way to help her. Now, the princess gives birth to something new, a union of light of the gods and demonic scourge. A demon, strong and powerful, cruel and awesome. A greyskin.

And what better place to begin than Basgiath? The marked ones were there. The dragons were there, the professors, the weapons, the lies, the reasons, they were all there. The only thing she did not expect to be there was love. But love was for children, and Garrick surely wasn't one. Illena may have fallen in love with him, anyway. But that was a secret as well. The Path of the Adventurer by MetalGearTom

Here is an epic fantasy story set in my D&D world that I wrote not only for fans of RPGs and fantasy in general, but for all my friends. This story about my character Erion, a young elven warrior; and his many allies and enemies in the kingdom of Briarbeth. In this vast story, you'll meet daring heroes, joy-bringing mages, ruthless orcs and more. This novel has a multitude of inspirations and influences, chief among them being Dungeons and Dragons, The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit, and The Legend of Zelda. I even take cues from anime such as Little Witch Academia, and favorite video games like Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and various JRPGs like Chrono Trigger. Look closely, and you may find subtle references to some of the aforementioned franchises at different points in the book :) Just a little warning: The story, especially the first couple of chapters, starts off with a several common fantasy tropes and clichés at first glance (e.g. elves and orcs, an old wizard with a pointy hat and a grey beard, taking treasure from dragon etc.), but it will grow into something a bit more unique as the story progresses. Please forgive my usage of Tolkienesque tropes, as I came up with the concept of the series when I was only fourteen (At the time I was making it in the style of old school fantasy, so what can you expect :p). Even I, as the creator will say it is cliched or stereotypical in some aspects. I only refuse to change them due to spending a lot of time with them during my high school years (And tbh i love elves/dwarves/orcs fantasy). With that aside, I hope that you will love my fantasy universe full of adventure and lore. Now sit back, relax, and embrace yourself for a magical adventure with Erion and his friends! Listened to Twilight Force, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Power Quest, and various other power metal bands while I was writing this :) (Character drawings found at the end of the story)

She is, however, born empty, magicless, to everyone's disappointment. An attempt at a coup d'etate takes place after her twelfth birthday, and her father is assassinated under mysterious circumstances. An orphan now, she is brought to live in The Priory of the White Stones, a home for girls from families that have or had magic-bearing members. They are schooled to be concubines or wives that a noble family can acquire for their heir, because even if magic-less, they still carry the gene and have a fifty percent chance to bear a magic-yielding child. __________________ Mentions: Please don't copy and all that. Someone to guide him away from the misery? Distract him from the life he couldn't escape from? There were days he didn't know which way was up and where the sea began. Where the skies collided with the dirt and delved into the inferno of the hells. The whispers of creatures that should have had no interest in a mortal caressing the shell of his ears. Beings he believed to be just as mortal as himself and if one observed their flaws they might have been. Walking the city grounds and sailing the oceans as easily as anyone. Blockades of fire and ice prevented their hands from intertwining. Now he balanced atop the wall. Grabbing both with shaky arms and keeping them close. Please don't leave. Fangs and claws used to claim him. Gentle kisses and caresses to calm him. Breathless words pulled him deeper into the madness. Further into inky darkness speckled with blinding light. Granting him everything he never knew he'd wanted. A dream come reality. Strange how love could spark from pain. How fickle. And how much he only wanted more.
