I cut him off. "Don't you ask me that again. Okay? I don't even know you." Harry doesn't say anything and lets me open the door to get out of the car. "That cut wasn't there this morning." He states matter of factly. "What?" I duck my head back down into the cab to look at him again. "Em told me your story about how you split your lip." He looks deeply into my eyes and I'm suddenly self conscious about how attentively he's looking at me . "Unless I missed you sneaking off to play volleyball during work, that was not there before that pompous asshole boyfriend of yours showed up." My mouth falls open slightly, not knowing what to say in response to him calling me out so blatantly. Nothing he's saying is accusatory toward me, he just obviously doesn't believe a single thing I've said. And he's right. They're all lies. I shut the door in his face, my solution for not having a response. I turn around to walk toward my house, a little shaken by this interaction with a perfect stranger who saw right through my bullshit immediately. I hear Harry's car roar back to life as I attempt to unlock the front door with slightly trembling hands. The lack of sleep, drama with Johnny and the conversation I just had with Harry is proving to be too much for one day.
