It was two months into the school year, with Halloween looming just around the corner, and because of who I am as a person, I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. I was so engrossed in the book that I had found online that I didn't even notice the lobby was being decorated with streamers and papier-mâché pumpkins for the upcoming holiday.
I also didn't realize that right in front of me was a ladder. And on that ladder was a person. A person who shouted an expletive when I knocked over said ladder, sending him sprawling to the floor in pain.
If there's one thing that can get your attention, it's someone shouting the f-word very loudly as they fall to the floor in front of you.

When Robyn Abbott runs (literally) into Daniel Coine, they find themselves in a sticky situation. Robyn feels horrible about breaking his leg and costing him his community service hours with the campus decorating committee, although he won't admit to her why he needs the hours in the first place.
