Society. It can be a great yet terrible thing. The Rich run it, the Poor enslaved by it. Many are discriminated by it for various reasons. Those on top are powerful and will do anything to stay powerful. They will even kill for it. Amongst the victims of discrimination are supernaturally enabled humans. A.K.A Supers. ~~~ I felt terror rise in me and, as another hand pulled at the knotted fabric of the blindfold at the back of my head, I closed my eyes to stop it from brushing them. Instead, it rubbed against my eyelids and lashes before it fell to the floor. Opening my eyes, I came face-to-face with the super that held me captive. Or what little there was to see of him. There was a dim light being given off by a candle somewhere nearby. More filtered in from somewhere else in the room, but not much. Combine the bad lighting with the mask he was wearing, there wasn't much to see. Only the lower half of his face was on show, the skin tan and smooth. A strong jaw, pink lips, flared nostrils and the bottom parts of his cheeks were all I was getting off this guy. The holes where his eyes watched me taking him in were filled with shadow, so I couldn't see what colour they were. A black mask covered the rest of his face, his hair was styled and dark, blending in with the shadows around us.

Book Two of The Adler series ** Cassandra Lovett had pictured her summer holiday to be a break from her prep school scene filled with superficial snobs and shred her big wheels to cruise downtown, go on movie night marathons with her best friend and get up to wild, outlandish adventures. What she hadn't pictured was a brutal split between her parents spurred by a scandalous affair, getting shunned by her own so called friends and neighbours to be sent packing out to an estranged uncle further down south. As if having her whole life fall apart wasn't bad enough, she's forced to start her new one enrolled in St. Sinclair Academy; an elite school rumoured to groom the most absurdly rich and intellectual heirs of aristocrats and billionaires across Europe. Cassandra is certain her new school life is going to be the worst but what she doesn't know is that she'd stumbled into the domain of the most infamous clique highly esteemed not on the academy grounds but at the pinnacle of the elite society, The Monarch. They were the last people anyone dared to oppose, rivalled to no other and envied to no end and they ruled St. Sinclair. Most importantly, powerful people like them were meant to be a myth, but what Cassandra would soon learn was that the world she lost was the actual fairytale- this, was the truth. ** This CANNOT be read as a standalone. There will be reappearances of characters from the first book, mentions of previous incidents and yeah, I think you get the gist.
