The year is 1912. Two Oxford men are members of the same college, but they could not be more different. The first, Stanley Walker, son of a shopkeeper, is studying engineering. The second, Jimmy Barrington, son of Britain's wealthiest banker, owns a fast car. They become friends.
Jimmy's birthday picnic at Port Meadow turns into a grand gathering, attended by the cream of London society, who sip champagne served by the family's butler and enjoy the late summer sunshine. Stanley is introduced to Theda, Jimmy's headstrong sister, and the other members of the Barrington clan. None of them knows — though some suspect — that their world is about to change forever.
When war breaks out, Jimmy decides to join the Royal Flying Corps, and he persuades Stanley Walker to come with him. Soon they are embroiled in a new kind of war which starts with the German invasion of Belgium. Not all goes according to plan, however, and while Stanley sticks to his guns, Jimmy's fate takes a turn that leads him to an even stranger battlefield.
The Deadly Playground is the first volume of a series that recounts the story of the prestigious Barrington family during the Great War. A tale of espionage, romance and a portrait of power and influence moving behind the scenes as the curtain rises on the first act of a Century of tumultuous conflict.

The adventurous journey continues. After Dave suddenly finds himself blackmailed by the IRA, Tom and Martin travel to London to help him solve the problem. In the process they get to know other "right people", the German TV cameramen Hans and Reiner and the musicians of the reggae band "The Uptones". In the course of the year, Tom and Martin travel to Northern Ireland, where they meet Barry Madden, the head of finance of the IRA, who turns out to be a "very nice murderer". They meet a similarly "nice murderer", namely the Libyan head of state, Col. Gaddafi, when they accompany Madden on a secret trip to Libya, where he strikes an "arms for information" deal. Gaddafi offers generous financial support to the Greek resistance organization in return for information from the NATO base at Souda Bay on Crete, from where he fears an attack on his country. But in Greece, too, there are further adventures to be had. For example Philipos, the youngest, cheekiest and most precocious member of the group, on a mission that the group is carrying out in Kastoria in northern Greece, finds himself in a cellar with 100 skulls and a zombie, which is a big, albeit embarrassing, step on his path to adulthood. Time and again Tom and his friends get into unpredictable, dangerous situations, which they survive because the members of their group now understand each other other blindly, become braver each time and learn from their mistakes. Of course there are news about the love triangle of Tom - Sophia - Nikos, and love affairs also emerge among the other members of the resistance group. As I said - the journey continues, more adventurous, more dangerous, more exciting. This is a work of fiction, although I thoroughly researched the historical facts. Her favorite color is purple and in 8th grade, she threw up on the blind kid in the middle of a presentation on Dolphins. That's about all anybody knows about her. Hidden beneath a blanket of PTSD and social anxiety is the quirky, insensible, headstrong and sarcastic girl who lives life with an internal monologue of comebacks she doesn't actually say. Alec Kendrick, smoldering hot, very typical stereotyped bad boy. No, he's not rich with absent parents, nor is he poor and struggling to provide for his family. He has two brothers and a baby sister, who he gets a smite bit overprotective over. Alec likes his motorbikes, leather jackets and the occasional back talk to the teachers, plus picking a couple of fights and some drinking. Admittedly, so he's not a total angel either. These two very different people would probably have not even crossed paths if it wasn't for a mixed up folder, a weekend lost in the woods, a stolen copy of an embarrassing tape, crazy siblings, dancing best friends and of course, some sparks. In the midst of all this, will she stay with the civilization she knows and lose the boy she loves, or stay with the boy she loves and lose the civilization she knows? Kankuro meanwhile is the right hand-man of Kazekage Gaara. Everything is peaceful on the land. However, soon the Land of Lightning receives new tourists and some rich refugees from the eastern continent by the ship Super Ocean Express, some of which, disregarding the rule, are shinobi (there is a particular restriction on Super Ocean Express - without a certain pass, shinobi are forbidden to travel over the ocean). The refugees arrive because a war has broken out in the east. The mysterious shinobi children of the east desperately look for 'The Lord of the Desert', as they call the certain man they don't even know. So they arrive in the only desert on the western continent - the Land of Wind. Here, they soon arrive to the Hidden Sand Village, but seem suspicious to the Sand ninja because they don't even wear ninja headbands. How will all these events end up? The story of Jason is an odd one, his story is one that involves multi-dimensional travel, combat, and the reoccurring bad situation. That is only the tip of the iceberg, unfortunately, this story cannot be told from just one view... but through the views of his friends (war mongers, vigilantes, heroes, metal heads, and soldiers) and new found allies. With a wonder device that Jason steals, while trying to adjust after a bad court martial, he finds the Mysterious land known only as the Neutral Dimension. Once there... Instead of finding fame and fortune as he sought, he instead finds a whole new set of problems.
