A Tale of East and West

Technically a Super Mario fanfiction? One character from the series is introduced in the very end.

A "Romeo and Juliet" type story about how Sarasaland came to be. And in true Shakespearean fashion, there is a sonnet that precedes every chapter.

Prince Edward of the East Kingdom longs to rise above his greedy, abusive father, King John, who wages war with their rivaling neighbor out west. Seeking the chance to venture out of his homeland for the first time, he warns Princess Rose of the West Kingdom. Before long, the two befriend one another, but as the war rages onward, they find themselves falling in love.

What will become of the kingdoms' feud now? Will true love conquer all, or will hatred bring about a nasty end to all Edward and Rose hold dear?
