Daniel is a very popular 9th grader, going into 10th. His whole life at school is a big fat lie. He is gay, which is unfortunate because he goes to a homophobic school. He has his heart set on a little boy named Joey, and he won't let anyone take him away from him.
Joey is a very little, unpopular boy. he skipped a grade, and he doesn't have many friends. He hates his new school, but he had to move because his dad kicked him and his alcoholic mom out of their house. He doesn't know what he classifies yet, because everyone pushes him away anyway, because he is always beat up from his mom. Bullies use that as an excuse to beat him up more.
