Johanna Mason is a normal, innocent girl from District 7. But when she gets Reaped to die in the 71st Hunger Games, she is sure that she is going to win and takes on an act to make her look weak and unsuspecting. When she arrives in the arena, everyone is shocked to see her as such a cold-blooded killer. The Games can do that to people: turn them into killers and fill their minds with venom and horriffic images. Johanna Mason is fed up with the Capitol and her newly-found attitude won't land her a place on President Snow's list of favorites. Watch as this girl transforms from a civilian, to an actress, to a killer, to a rebel.

Under the Capitol eye, she was perceived as a weakling. An oversensitive, district 7 girl, who simply "had no chance." But she definitely put on an act. Crying and pretending she didn't know how to fight, brought her to the final eight. The others simply overlooking her, just as she'd planned. Life for victors is still hard. Nobody wins the game; there are only survivors. Johanna knows that well since her win in the 68th game and her family suffering the consequence of her not bending the knee to the Capitol. She grew cold, distant, and snappy more than before, an angry woman, sending off two tributes to die each year, having stopped caring about anything since there was no one left to hurt to get to her. That was until the 71st group of tributes showed up, a boy and a girl born into the wrong district, to the wrong fate.
