Josh Raven is the typical bad boy; distressed black jeans, leather jacket, pierced ears, eyebrow and lip, dark lines around his eyes, and a silver cross hanging from a long chain dangling just above his belly button.
Stephen Beerkens is quite the opposite. Yes, he likes to wear black t-shirts, but he often pairs them with pastel bomber jackets or brightly coloured Converse. He has a silver ring through his nose and paints his nails, often a plain shade of white or a baby blue.
Pissed at having to move, Josh isn't happy about starting at a new school yet again, but he had to move to Perth with his mum when she got a new job.
Pissed at being paired with the new kid for a French assignment, but positive nonetheless, Stephen finds himself intrigued by this new character.
Eventually, summer rolls around and the Raven family is heading out for a much-needed adventure - it's the first time Josh has genuinely smiled since the plane took off for Perth. His smile only fades when he hears who else will be there.
