“Hey,” I said gently. Abruptly, the shadowy figure stood up, but he didn’t even turn around.  “Don’t talk to me.”I blinked from surprise. Loud, warm laughter issued from inside, but the noise sounded eerie and far away. “Don’t even look at me.”He stared into the distance, at the night sky. He was a total stranger. And all I wanted was to know who he was. Did he think I was some creepy girl looking to hook up with the mayor’s son? My stomach lurched. “I’m not obsessed with you,” I said indignantly. “I’m just looking for a friend--”“By what I’ve seen,” Luke cut me off. “It seems you’ve already made one.”I opened my mouth. Was he referencing Sam?“Why are you being so cold to me? You don’t even know me.”He turned to me. I felt my lips part as his beautiful eyes met mine. “And for your sake,” he said softly, shaking his curly head of hair. “Let’s keep it that way. Okay?”All I could do was blink. “For my sake?”He held up his hand. “You’re still talking to me. Here. I’ll make it easier for you." Luke turned on his heel. He silently disappeared back into the house. And then I was alone, on the terrace. A cold breeze blew across my arms. I hugged myself to keep warm, though the sting of rejection was burning on my cheeks.

**Unedited** "She can't come to the phone right now. I'll be happy to take a message for you." My blood runs cold. "Where is she? What have you done to her?" He doesn't say anything and I don't hear her. I start to panic. "Nothing, yet." "If you touch her-" "What Luke?!" He cuts me off. I bite my lip and pass my hand through my hair. "What could you possibly do to me that you haven't already done?!" My eyes starts to water. This lunatic would hurt her and I knew he would. "I beg you," I tell him. "I'll do anything you want. Just leave her be. I'll meet you wherever you want. Take me, please, just leave her out of this." I hear Jasmen crying. "See, but where would all the fun be in that? I could smack you around, take away your fancy cars, and you'd be fine. But if I do this-" I hear Jasmen screaming again. What the hell was he doing to her? I swore the minute I got the chance too, I was going to kill him. "No, please stop! For fuck sake, please!!" I felt helpless. I was letting her down in the biggest way. "See what I mean. This beautiful doll is your Achilles heel man. And you won't like it, she won't like it, but I am going to enjoy this next part." Before I begin, I just want to say that this story does include some mature themes. I will also give out a warning a chapter prior to these scenes. Getting that out of the way, let's go onto the story description... *This book contains explicit content* *EXTRACT FROM THE BOOK* I stared at him, cooking and whistling, something that I could not do, or should I say, wasn't bothered to do. I decided to move away and to try and find an exit but I didn't even take one step back when I heard his voice. "Princess? Is that you?" I saw him raise his head before shooting his eyes onto me. The sudden gaze caused to heart to race while it froze my body as if I have turned into ice. I felt the fear engulf my body, eating me inside out. "You aren't scared of me... Are you?" he asked me, I sensed the envy in his voice. That mixed with his harsh tone caused a wave of goosebumps to course through my body. I wanted to begin by asking him where was I? Why was I here? Why was he here... I wanted to ask him, but I couldn't, the fear was just all too much for me. "Come on... Speak to me... Ask me..." he began. "Ask me 'why am I here' and all of that crap... Entertain me with your fear." I saw him slowly gripping a knife that was on the countertop, with his eyes still on mine. The sides of his mouth slowly began tilting upwards. All the bitterness and the cold, it was all so visible in his eyes. I looked at him in horror, noticing him as he took his first steps towards me. "Talk to me... Because this might be the only time you will ever be able to talk, " he said this sentence in such a calm tone, it caused me once again to shiver with goosebumps. "W-what do you mean...". Never in my life have I stuttered, until then.

As I leave, the cold British wind greets me. I zip up my sweater, and start walking home. Thanks to my parents, I don't have a car. "You're too irresponsible for a car, Courtney. You can always save up for one once you leave this house," my father had scoffed when I asked him. I walk at a fast pace, hoping to avoid any random strangers lurking in the dark streets. "Hey, darling. What are you doing all alone in the dark?" I hear a voice ask. I pick up his deep, British accent. I ignore him, and start jogging. Just a few more streets... I hear his swift feet, and he grabs me from behind, pressing a wet cloth on my face. He drags me behind a building. My muffled screams are the only noise in the silent night. I try to break from his strong, yet careful hold. I wiggle under his grip, but he only lets out a sigh. "Shhhhh...don't scream...everything will be alright...shhhh..." he whispers. He once told me no one knows the real him.I didn't think he meant it, and not in a good way. He is a straight A student, and everyone knows it, not to mention he is on the swim team. All that though isn't the real him, the real him hides deep within himself. ---------- "Can you please tell me what that was?" I nearly shout at him. All I get is silence. He keeps his back to me. "Please, I need some explanation." I beg. I stay still as he stops dead in his tracks. His body is tense and it's scarring me. He turns around slowly to face me with his hands at his sides. His eyes meet mine, but there is no spark of any emotion in them. They are cold and dark making me look away not being able to hold his deadly stare. I feel uneasy under his gaze, and i feel his eyes burning a hole in the side of my face. "No, I won't explain because it's not important." He says in a low, almost, growl. I flinch and look back into his eyes. I feel hurt by his words and I don't know why, but I know he sees it in my eyes. His faces flashes with regret but it's quickly covered up with his faces going back to it's hard cold look. I feel my heart stop and my face go pale. His look terrified me making me hold my breath. "Breath." He orders. I start to breathe again and just blink at him. "Now go." He orders me again. I flinch involuntarily at his tone and jump back slightly. "Please don't let me walk home alone." I beg in a quiet voice, looking down at my feet. The next thing I see are his black combat boots right in front of my shoes. I look up into his eyes and he looks down into mine confusion written all over his face. "How come you aren't running yet?" He questions searching my eyes. "I just can't walk home alone, please I'm scared." I hear him chuckle. "You aren't afraid of me? What can possibly be scarier than me?" He asks. "Well, I know you will keep me safe." "Why is that?" He questions raising an eyebrow at me. "You haven't hurt me." "Yet." He mutters, but I roll my eyes.

Tears threatened to spill out from my eyes as I looked at my reflection in the mirror. DEVASTATED and BETRAYED. Suddenly, the door of the room opened and slammed shut. I looked at his reflection from the mirror and wiped off my tears hurriedly before shoving the card inside one of the drawers, not wanting him to know about it. He came and hugged me from behind resting his chin on my shoulder. Reality dawned upon me and fear crawled up on each and every ounce of my skin. Sweat buds formed on my forehead and neck as I looked at him staring at me intensely from the mirror. His gaze was filled with desire. He turned me towards him by holding my waist gently and sealed our lips in a soft and gentle kiss. I closed my eyes trying to hold back my tears which were ready to spill out anytime feeling disgusted with his touch. At that moment of helplessness, all I was praying to God was 'please god let it be a dream where I'll wake up beside the love of my life, my Rann' but the saddest reality is it's not. "My Rann is a ruthless killer. He is a Devil with whom I got married."
