Nothing in life is constant.
Lela Tanner knows that better than anyone. Her best friend, the love of her life, is gone. She'd never see his dimpled smile again or hear his quirky laugh again.
She'd never hear him say, "I love you" to her again.
Losing such a big part of yourself would make anyone shut off the world and lock themselves in.
She owes it to Jace to not to do that to herself or her parents, or his.
With his last words reverberating inside her, she decides not to be careful for once, to not spend hours planning something before finally doing it. Broken, shattered, teetering on the edge of uncertainty, she asks her parents for one year, one year to get her feet back on solid ground, one year and she'd be back, or maybe not...
But maybe this newfound recklessness might prove to be too much for her.
After all, she assumed nothing could be worse than losing someone the way she did.
But apparently, life hadn't had enough of tearing her world apart.

The Call (a TMNT fanfiction)

26 parts Complete

I believe we all have a call. Something to do, somewhere to be, something to change. But some calls are intertwined. Some accomplishments are meant to be together. And some negative phenomenon have underlying positive purposes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lexi doesn't have a bad life, but it's not exactly normal either. Her father, Jaxon King, left their family years ago without the courtesy of telling them why, then come to find out he had become The Shredder, a ruthless villain in New York City. But Lexi and her family have more to worry about than this. Evil rampages through the city and eventually, Lexi is put smack in the middle of it. Soon intertwined with the turtles, she realizes she's going to have to learn to take on more than she ever thought she could handle, and trust more than she wants to. Primarily, she needs to be ready to forgive and live on, even when there are a hundred reasons not to. This is a story about romance blooming in spite of difficult circumstances, forgiveness even to the unforgivable and hope in a world that seems so hopeless.
