Sick. Frank is extremely sick and he doesn't even know about it yet.
But Frank is turning twenty one and his friends just can't miss out on a celebration of any kind, so they take him out to a bar and there he meets this guy.
After talking for a while, Gerard (that's his name) and Frank decide to go to Gerard's place, a small, but homey, apartment.
For reasons unknown, the two keep in touch with each other, striking up a friendship so close it was a little bit baffling for anyone around them to see.
As Frank's now secret illness takes a turn for the worse and he and Gerard's friendship grows closer yet they find out more and more about each other. Facts and secrets, mostly.

Frank's parents died over a year ago which has caused him to spiral into a big heat of depression. He's angry, tired, and doesn't care. Gerard is tired of seeing his friend like this, so he hires him an at-home therapist. She's happy, sweet, and very optimistic. Frank is twenty eight: he's mentally stable for the most part, and well nobody has to know about pills he takes twice a day, do they? He's normal now, he's a person now, he's a fucking adult with an office job and he fucking hates it and that's fine, because he got out of the mental hospital three years ago, and these past three years of mundane nothingness have been the best three years of his life. Ten years ago, or so, Frank was in love with a boy called Gerard with fiery red hair and the personality of a switchblade knife, and ten years ago that boy called Gerard had killed himself. Frank still saw him though: hallucinations, as he knew them to be now, and it took him years in a hospital he never thought he'd get out of to convince himself of his newfound sanity, but he was okay now. Twenty eight year old Frank Iero had been officially 'okay' since he was twenty five. He hadn't seen Gerard again, and he didn't even think about the guy - he was just normal, and he was almost painfully content with being the secretary to someone with a five figure salary. But of course, on one fateful morning in December, that has to go and change, doesn't it? Richard doesn't even own a restaurant, he's a drug dealer, and he has Frank do the dirty work. When Frank is making a round he meets someone in particular. The boy is really cute, he likes all the music Frank likes, and Frank really thinks he likes him. His name is Gerard. Gerard always sneaks out, to drink, do drugs, smoke. His parents try to talk to him, but it never gets through. After a failed suicide attempt they just give up. They give Gerard to one of his moms close colleagues. Mrs. Linda Iero and her family. After another failed attempt lands Gerard in the hospital, Frank and Gerard get closer and closer. I update every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Gerard way and Frank Iero have always passed each other in the hallway but never spoke a word to one another. They are both alike in many ways. Both loners who feel like they don't quite belong. Though, he has a bit of an edgy attitude most people learn to respect. There's more to Gerard than what the outside shows. His brother Mikey and best friend Ray know glimpses of how he really feels, and how complications from the past really fuck with his behavior. But, their differences don't keep them apart considering these strangers are forced into each other's lives when Gerard finds Frank attempting to commit suicide.
