A mundane life was not where Zilla had seen herself at age 22. A life without connection to her children is not where Alva had seen herself at age 45. Staring into the eyes of his high school sweetheart while at a funeral was not where Liam had seen himself at any age. The small town of Whitmore was a town of joy and bliss, split off from the world and off from the maps. No one cared to put them on one, and they never cared to fight for that recognition. They all enjoyed being off the grid with no phones other than those in the 3 officer police station and the mayors office. That is, until a body turns up without motivation and a lack of knowhow to catch the criminal. Everyone knew everything about everyone, but apparently no one knew enough.

~Her words were my poison. I used them to consume myself. Disturbingly honest. Painfully strained. Carefully penned down. Dangerously addictive.~ A journal that landed in the right hands and told a whole story with words, no lips could speak. Two people bound by the pages of a book that tore their souls apart. He found it lying around and wondered what could go wrong. He didn't recognise the handwriting but he knew he instantly fell in love with it. Then it began. The assault of words on his life. He couldn't believe a word she wrote but somehow he did. He knew more about her than anyone else but he knew so little about who she was... It was maddening. How someone could have such an impact on you without having a single conversation with you. Her precious words tortured his existence, they drowned him in misery, created a black hole of words around him, gave him everything he needed to live. Made him fall in love. Gave him a world of his own. Made him believe in rainbows, unicorns, coffee, the basis of happiness, the meaning of every sunrise, the mystery of every deep ocean, she made him human. He knew he had to find her. He had to find out who she was. He had given him all the clues he needed but none of them were enough to prepare him for who she was. But sometimes... The journey is more important than the destination. Sometimes, the journey is the destination. A book full of stolen pages and a boy full of curiosity. This was how he let her shape his story. __________________ Description inside. Italics = Journal entry. 500 word chapters. Okay, so I don't know if you want to read it yet but it would mean the world to me if you could give it a shot.

"All week, you've been on my mind, and I can't make it go away. Finally, after suffering in silence for so long at the thought of your lips, your laugh, and your smile..." Aaron trailed off, his eyes roamed my face. "All week?" I scoffed pulling away. "I've been in love with you for twenty years!" "We've been friends since childhood, and I've accepted that we're just not meant to be. I've tried to move on and you encouraged me to follow my dreams. I just... I didn't know that my dream was you." . ✧ . Bethany grew up in a small town in rural Alabama. Her older brother and her best friend had been the only closest people to her for years. Until they all graduated together and went their separate ways. Struggling to stay in touch with one another with their developing, adult lives. Years ago Bethany had fallen head over heels in love with the most popular guy in town, Aaron Russel. But confessing her feelings had always been something she would never do. After all Aaron was her best friend's brother who never gave Bethany a second thought. Or so she thought. Bethany had always been the typical nerdy girl without any fashion sense. Aaron was the complete opposite. Aaron throughout school was the class clown, football quarterback with dozens of friends that hung onto his every word. Girls at his beck and call. And high school only enriched his popularity. And now almost a decade later they all have the opportunity to see each other again at their ten year high school reunion. Now Bethany had the chance to show everyone she grew up with how much she changed. Her thriving career out of state finally gaining confidence and sophistication transforming into a whole new woman. It took them some time to realize what they wanted and what they needed in life. And it took them even more time to confess who they were truly in love with.

But with the arrival of a familiar stranger arriving at Black Oak Ranch, things are set to be more complicated than she'd been counting on. Ryder Matthews fucked up and he knows it. 11 years ago, he left the love of his lie in some pre-college life freak out and when he returned 3 years later, she was gone. After spending the better part of 14 months travelling the world in hopes of finding some kind of meaning to life outside of the little town where every turn is a burning memory of Sadie, he returns with no hope. He's stuck to deal with his consequences. A week after his return home, Ryder heads to Jack Taylor's ranch to get his old farm hand job back. When he steps out of the car, a 9 year old girl greets him and when her mom comes to see what the fuss is all about, he's met with the last person he thought he'd ever see back in Alcombey. Let alone with a child. Ryder and Sadie have a lot of baggage to unpack if they have any hope of being able to tolerate working together. But when his heart is still beating for her and her heart is locked behind solid concrete walls, is that even possible?
