He sniffed, and I couldn't help it. He just looked too helpless. I silently pulled him into my arms, and after a moment he burst into tears. "Shh," I soothed. "It's okay. It's all over now." He scoffed and started to pull away, then thought better of it.

"It's not over," he said. "It won't be over until I'm dead."

So there's that little teaser right there, thought you might like it. And here's the blurb.

Lance McClain was having a nice day. Everything was going great; he'd just landed a good job, his sister gave birth to twins, and the cute girl at the coffee kiosk got his complicated order perfect, complete with number. At least, it was going great, until he went for a walk later that day. A young man with shoulder-length black hair ran into him, quite literally. The very first words out of this stranger's mouth were, "You've gotta help me!" Not moments later, three thugs appeared, taking aim at him. And now that he'd seen this, Lance has just become a target. But no matter how much Lance asked the stranger who made him fall over, he wouldn't say anything, even in the midst of almost being killed. Would they manage to evade their pursuers? Or be lost to the fate of their bullets?
