Génesis trata de la historia de una familia (desde 1872 hasta 1942). Los eventos transcurren en la campiña de Cajamarca. Asombran las escenas de romance, extraídas de costumbres lugareñas. El amor huye de los clichés para mostrarnos un humor sutil. Como en todo pueblo el clima se construye con música, danza y espíritu mágico religioso. "Magia, hechizos, sueños, guerra, brujos, santos y demonios" modelan el discurso y el paisaje. Sin proponerse tocar lo "real maravilloso" de la narrativa de Gabo, nos aproxima a ella, aunque la magia subyace en la mente colectiva.

La novela tiene atmósferas prolijamente construidas, una evolución de cambios en la que no se altera esa extraña y fascinante propensión a la esperanza. Quien ha seguido bien la buena prosa del boom sesentero y, más aún, bebido del buen aperitivo de la cuidada letra de autores como Azorín, no puede dejar de sorprenderse del revelador valor de la "forma de contar" de Evelyn García.
Evelyn García nos obsequia una historia regional y universal a la vez, con el añadido de un diccionario de topónimos, palabras quechuas, cajamarquinismos y coloquialismos que sirven para interiorizar el mundo que presenta.All Rights Reserved
