In the years 1755 Elijah and Klaus come to boston. Elijah met a young woman named Scarlett and falls immediately in love with her. He has no idea that 
she falls in love him too. shortly after Klaus also met her and is immediately fascinated by her. As Elijah noticed that Klaus has fallen in love with Scarlett, so he decides  to give up Scarlett for Klaus and rejects she, unaware that she wanted to confessher love to him in the moment. Scarlett is heartbroken. 

Klaus tries to cheer her up and because she likes him and she feels comfortable in his near, they start a relationship.Elijah suffers a lot but do not want to admit it. Even Scarlett, although developed tender feelings for klaus, loves elijah still very much. 
Klaus does not know that Scarlett's best friend Amanda fell in love with him and has tried everything that he returns her feelings.
