After Hogwarts, Hermione had decided to go look for her parents. Fortunately, she was able to find a family that was willing to help her find them. But what she didn't know, was that they were the Malfoys in disguise. They helped her find them, but as they approached Dan and Emma, they were murdered right outside of their home. Hermione tried to save them, but they were already dead. Hermione was so upset, that she drank her misery away. She basically lived in a bar after that. Then, that's when her life started going downhill.
That's when she found out she was a Malfoy.
