Villains of circumstance

To Jay the world was made of villains and victims, nothing more and nothing less. There were no heroes in real life, no knights on a shining armor that would save poor, weak people in danger just for the sake of it. Good men were a myth, something out of fairy tales.

But then something eerie comes to his town, -or perhaps it was always around- and he finds himself stuck in situations where he questions those beliefs more often than not.
Maybe he was right about there not being heroes in the real world, but maybe those villains people wrote about on fairy tales, and in whom he'd believed his entire life weren't that real either.
