Turner Anlul is the protector of Win'muses, and it is not a position he takes lightly. Guardian from birth, Turner spends almost every moment of his life worrying about the safety of his home island and keeping the delicate balance between his people and the humans across the Fence. Thus far, he has been grateful duty does not call on him often. But even his guard can slip.

Sixteen year old Jenna isn't usually a courageous girl, but when her friends dare her to cross the Fence she puts on a brave face. When she runs into the Guardian, she hopes to never be cornered by another terrifying creature like him. Unfortunately she can't seem to stay away and soon finds herself housing the spirit of the dying Guardian.

Together Turner and Jenna venture across Win'muses, following the trail of those who are destroying their home.
