So, I'm not the only living thing in here. I keep looking. Below my feet is a dark, endless black and lights flashing. Wait... I'm moving. Upwards. What's up? A wall is coming up ahead, but the box is not slowing down. I'm going to die is all I'm thinking; the thought tightens my throat and makes it even harder to breathe. Calm down, stay focused I tell myself. I need to decrease the impact of the crash. I look around and find large amounts of rope and blankets. And... cans. Well huge cans big enough to hide behind. I crawl behind them as fast as I can, grabbing a bundle of blanket and putting it over my head. I squeeze my eyes closed as hard as I can, bracing myself for the impact. But nothing happens. What's going on?

"You know it won't go to the West," he said dropping his voice. "Maybe you're wrong. Who knows," she shrugged. Her shoulders had slumped but she had managed to not let any tears spill. "Baum knew what he was doing when he made the West wicked, Mary," he hissed. "The East was wicked in that book too, dumbass," Mary retorted. Jacob's hands went into fists to keep from pushing at his hair. The tree behind them began to shake slightly. The ground gave a tiny rumble. *************************************************** Mary's father recently passed. But she is finding out it might not have been from natural causes... Family adversaries threaten everything while influential other worldly authorities pull the strings. Mary will have to work with an unlikely ally from her childhood to navigate their new found powers and reclaim balance. Meanwhile... one dark soul is climbing the ladder of chaos. Feel free to leave a message. I love comments! As the story progresses you might notice some subtle (and not so subtle) parallels to the Wizard of Oz. As I always advise my students- give it three chapters before setting it aside. Thanks for reading and enjoy! ☺️ This book is in a perpetual state of needing editing. I hope to return to the chapters to add some details. I'm hoping for a sequel as time allows. Oh, the life a middle school teacher... MORE TIME, I NEED MORE TIME. ‼️‼️Warning: Mild Language Please be advised.
