Tree Singer is the story of fifteen-year-old Mayten. Something is wrong with her beloved trees, and as a tree singer, she can't help but feel their pain. The trees are the lifeblood of her clan and when they send her images of devastation, she knows that it's not just the trees that are being affected but the whole island's existence that is threatened. Mayten wants nothing more than to stay home and continue her training to become an advanced tree singer liker her mother. But when the clan leader asks her to join a team to help save the king's forest, and the clans economy, she must go. She alone can figure out what is killing thousands of trees, and time is running out. Soon Mayten learns that her best friend has lied to her and her mother has sent her off on a quest so dangerous that she might die. Also, the surly quest leader seems to hate her and she has no idea why. After facing betrayal, fear and a deadly mountain lion, she finally reaches the king's castle and things only get worse. Mayten grew up under the illusion that everyone loved singers, now she learns that this is not true. Not true at all. Will Mayten be able to find the evil that is attacking the trees before the whole kingdom collapses?
