Mutants, danger, and televised fights are all the norm. Magic? Not so much.

Christine is a simple girl living a simple life. Yeah, right. She falls asleep every night wondering if she'll even wake up the next day. She's been taught her entire life to blend in. But everyone has to be singled out at some point, and it happens for Christine when she's forced to fight mutants in the Arena on live television. It's then that Christine discovers an ability that does anything but help her blend in.

Erik is a mutant, a freak with wings in a dead city. When Erik hears a disturbance, he decides it's worth the risk to help out. That's when he discovers Christine, who has just made herself public enemy number one. By helping Christine, Erik ends up getting in way over his head.

I looked at him in shock, "How do you know that?" "I know a lot of things about you, Ms. Prior, even things you don't know yourself." Excuse me? "From what you can do," he paused giving me a look before directing his gaze back at the field. "To your eye color. Your parents have blue ones, so I don't see how that works." What? He continued without question, "You are still a mystery to us, as you have never showed any signs of power before, so it's sort of confusing." He paused for a few seconds them said, "You're different; you have an ability. You're a Supernatural." "Ok, I really need to go so..." I began walking back, but he stuck out his arm to block me. And that's when it happened. Flames rose on his arms, lighting them on fire. I backed up, feeling the heat radiate off his arms. I was in utter shock, yet he looked relaxed, amused even. "What the hell are you?" I jumped back, and the fire went out, a smirk rising on his face. "I'm just like you." ***** Kayla Prior has always been a popular girl, and everyone looks up to her. What's not enough for one, too much for three, and just right for two? A secret. But you know teenagers. We tend to break or bend the rules. In this case, three is just right for the secret that these highschoolers hold. Facit autem virtus nostra nos. Our power makes us one. "So, what am I?" "We, we don't know. We're still trying to figure that out." And with that, he got up and left the room. Swirling his coat behind him, leaving us to deal with this information. I felt as if I had just been slapped directly in the face with a frying pan. What do you mean you don't know what I am? As if I'm some sort of alien creature or something that's going extinct. I'm not a creature to be classified. Yet that was how I felt.
