But when she collides with Keith Reth, a boy with a bad attitude and a load of problems, she's at the end of her wit because - he doesn't want her or anybody else's help.
So, she does the only sensible thing and calls in his parents.
Unfortunately, her great idea backfires when his older brother Jack shows up to school and it is evident that his bad boy streak is even worse than his brother's. Even more so, it appears that there is a whole lot more trouble behind Keith's behavior and Jack's arrogance. Jane is pulled into a world of violence that she never wanted to be a part of, along with the Reths.
And the only thing to blame is a detention slip that was supposed to calm the bad boys down.
