(COMPLETED STORY) Shae and his best friend, Jeff, try to find a lost dog to pay for a car rental they want to use to propose to their crushes for Prom!

"What if we propose with McDonald's fries?" Shae suggested, licking the salt off his fingers after finishing his third serving of fries.

"I'll do you one better. We. Buy. Thirty. Wait for it..... Kittens!" Jeff suggested.

"Buy kittens? What for?"

"To put in a tiny picnic basket, you idiot. That's basic girl stuff!"

"I don't know Jeff, where would we even buy thirty kittens?" Shae asked, throwing a nearby bouncy ball against the wall.

"Ow! Shae watch where you're throwing that thing!"

"Sorry bro, it was an accident."

"Whatever. I saw this ad in a magazine-"

"What a minute," Shae interrupted, "a magazine. You know nobody reads those anymore, right?"

Shae started to laugh.

"Whatever Shae, let me get to the point!"

Casually, she participates in the app's trial run but finds herself immersed in the empathic conversations with her customizable virtual boyfriend, Ecto. In a society both connected and alienated by technology, Kate suspects an actual secret admirer is behind Ecto. Could it be the work of the techie student council president Dion or has Kate really found her soulmate in bits of computer code? She decides to get to the bottom of the cutting-edge app. Her search for Ecto's real identity leads Kate to prom, where absolute knowledge comes with a very steep price.
