They were caught sabotaging fire nation boats and towers and were traitors, so they fled to the South Pole to live in hiding. But later, the fire nation found there hiding spot and killed them on sight. They tried to caught Aya but she quickly escaped from there hands. The southern water tribe found her alone and took her in as there own. But discovered that the young girl had the ability to fire bend. Over the years they've always kept there distance from her, but later she became friends with Sokka and his sister Katara. No matter how hard She tries, she will never earn the rest of the villages trust. But that all soon changed when her and her friends found the Avatar.
