The Centurion's Woman by FliederAmanda
107 parts Complete Mature
Alexandria "Alex" Moldovan fell asleep at a work retreat and woke up in the same place, just not in the right time. The situation improves when she's inadvertently rescued by a Roman Centurion, and as long as she can keep her wits - and his affections - she might just survive this. But trading one slave class for another doesn't help with the trouble that always seems to find her... Ixillius Traversi had been leading his century on a routine razing, but the slave he found imprisoned, injured and starved in the village is anything but typical. That she was alive seemed barely possible, and then she'd saved his life... and she wasn't afraid of him. He claimed the woman who called herself Alex as his slave, be it a curse or a blessing, but he still needs to know one thing: who is she? The Centurion's Woman is set in Germania Inferior circa 5 AD, and Maiden discovers that a two thousand year culture shock may be the easiest problem to overcome, but it won't be the last... Trigger Warnings: beatings / abuse (people and animals), starvation, battle, blood, sex Please note: This story's historical elements are based on the research I did as a writer; I'm not a historian. "Maiden" is Book 1, "Warrior" is Book 2, and "Scholar" is Book 3 of my Historical Fiction trilogy, an adult romance titled "The Centurion's Woman", published through FriesenPress. A Country Divided : Through Blood United

30 parts Complete

On a warm morning in the 1850's, Evangeline relaxes in her massive Missourian estate without a worry in the world. Evangeline's day collapses as her twin brother and father burst into the living room, chasing after the "family friend" because she did not fulfill her morning jobs, revealing the friend's true role in the house: a slave; brought into the Freebourne's family estate as their property. The event forever altered Evangeline's view on both the idea of slavery and her family, provoking her to run away with Jewel, and instead of the warm feeling of compassion toward her father and brother, a newer, colder perception emerged: hate. Although she still deeply cared for her flesh and blood, her feelings competed as she abhorred her family's principles. Her hate for her brother's Confederate opinions and her will to fight for freedom for all could drive her to take the lives of those opposed to her -including her twin brother- but does that really make Evangeline a killer? [NOT ENTIRELY ACCURATE, MADE TO FIT THE PLOT, it's called Historical Fiction for a reason] [sorry that the cover looks so photoshopped lol] [STORY CREATED ON MARCH 30, 2017]
