Emerald, called Emmy for short, has her secrets. One of them being that she's deaf, but not completely. She has her hearing aids. She gets bullied at school, getting called mean names and being kicked around. It's no better at home. No where is safe for her and she hates the saying "Home Sweet Home". Her home is far from sweet.
One day at school, Emmy was crying in the empty hallway. Her hand was gushing blood and she was crying from all the mean words that were thrown at her. The school's bad boy Theo hears her cries and decides to help her. That day changed her life forever and for the better.
