Promise the dead but protect the living.

Until a promise to the dead forbids her from doing so.

Katell Maeva has spent her entire life as a woodcutter. In the summer months she chops wood and in the winter she knocks out wolves. But when food becomes scarce and her family starts to starve, Kat decides she should put her ax arm to work as a shieldmaiden.

Something her mother made her promise to never do.

Dying words her town won't let her forget.

Barred from becoming a shieldmaiden, when Kat mistakenly kills a beast on the outskirts of town she unravels a conspiracy involving creatures thought to have been hunted to extinction centuries ago. Creatures that once threatened to wipe every trace of humanity from the North.

To keep her Gram and sisters alive, she'll have to go against her mother's dying wish and break her promise. Picking up shield and ax just as her brother did.

A promise that hangs heavy. Barring fangs as real as her ax.

Werewolf High School by AnitaRaven

Julianna has always known exactly what she wanted. She was young, she was free, and nothing could stop her from taking the Alpha title in two years. Or so she thought... As if the first day at high school isn't bad enough, this is the day she finds her mate. Unfortunately, things get worse when she realizes that he is not just any wolf. He is the son of the Alpha from the rival pack. She will not give up her Alpha title for anything, but the mate bond is too strong to deny. Could this double Alpha relationship possibly work, or is rejecting him the only way out of it? If you are interested in werewolves and a fierce female heroine, you are in the right place! So get your favorite drink, sit back, and enjoy! Oh, and I added a song to the ending of each chapter as a kind of fade-out effect. If you love music and werewolf romance, this will be a perfect story for you! ;) *Cover made by very talented Wyllad. She makes awesome book covers, and she works very fast, so if you are interested in her art, definitely check out her profile! https://www.wattpad.com/user/Wyllad **Warning: This is my first story, and English isn't my mother tongue. But please do point out if you find any grammar mistakes. ***After reading some other werewolf fantasies, I wrote this story because I was craving for a strong lead female character that kicks ass. When I tried to imagine her, this story just popped up in my head. I'm aware it might not be to everyone's taste, but if at least one person besides me likes it, I feel that my mission is complete.

"As I laid on the filthy mat, my white hair fanning out like a halo around my head, I felt that ice inside of me fester. It grew and spread until it spanned across my entire body. It engulfed every thought inside my head, every feeling that was bubbling up inside of me. Like a virus. The cold quieted it all, until everything was still and silent... Until I felt nothing at all." Eira Gellert's world comes crumbling down as her sister is forced to leave for the army. Now alone and desperate, Eira looks for a job in a society where if you don't have a job by nineteen you either go into the army or starve. When searching, Eira stumbles across a woman claiming to be a half fae in charge of a spy rebellion going against the king of the fae kingdom "Hiraeth". She offers Eira a job to work as a spy for her. Eira reluctantly agrees, knowing she has no other options. But the deal does not come without a price, to enter the fae kingdom, Eira must become fae. Now equipped with uncommon powers and other fae abilities, Eira is thrust into a world she's only ever heard fairy tales about. One's with evil kings and dark crowns and warriors made of wings and fire. There, she meets Sable Deidre, the king's killer. He is made of darkness and known for his brutality. A kingdom across the sea, a man in pain clawing at a hated king who bears two shadows who protect him. A child, born from a mother with the powers of the Gods, screaming at a blood-soaked bed. A boy, a Prince, kind and full of the flame of life, sitting beneath a moon bug lit sky. Darkness enfolds the lands, its grasp claiming the continent and making its way from an already broken island, only to be stopped by the hands of fate. The hands of the girl and the Prince, and their love for the people in need of protection. This is their prophecy. This is their destiny and their fate depends on it. The Elemental rulers and their family are just beginning to find allies from unlikely and unimaginative places while creatures of myth and legend resurface from their campfire tales, and things aren't going as planned, so they'll have to find myths and legends of their own. Shouldn't be too hard. #6 - #strong-heroine #41 - #banter **Average Word Count Per Chapter: 8,000 **Edited (x2) LET ME KNOW IF YOU SPOT GRAMMAR ISSUES! *****Last Edited: 12/14/2024 NOTE FROM ME! - I very much model my works to resemble published examples, so there are no notes in any chapters from me, trigger warnings for chapters, etc. Just the world my brain likes to escape to every now and then.
