Elena met Alexander at a ball designated for the aristocrats in Vasrica. They had a lot in common: both were constantly the topic of the party, both came from wealthy families, and both only cared about themselves. With Alexander's popularity among women, Elena wanted nothing to do with him, until she found out that he was her fiancé.

Mason on the other hand was the complete opposite of Alexander. Although a playboy like Alexander, Mason was caring and put Elena before everything. Elena and Mason have been friends ever since they were 6. While Elena sees Mason as a person that she never wants to lose, she finds herself in a predicament of whether to establish a relationship with mason that she doesn't want, or to lose her best friend.
