I didn't mean for it to end like this. All I wanted to do was save the day, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. It wouldn't have been so bad if I was the one who paid the price for my own stupidity, but I wasn't. I was stupid, God I was so stupid, and now he's gone. He's gone and it is all my fault.

Polaris Archer wan't born to be a hero. She was born to marry a rich businessman and be the perfect trophy wife, at least that was what her parents tried to drill into her mind. That's what she was born to be, but that wasn't what she was made to be. Due to an "accident" when she was a kid, Polaris has superpowers just like the heroes straight from the comics. Suddenly, being the girl her parents bred her to be wasn't the only option. Polaris could be a hero, and she did just that. For awhile it was all perfect, like a story straight out of Actions Comics, but then Polaris finds the body of dead girl in her friend's truck. Suddenly everything in her world isn't all black and white, and will Polaris be able to find the balance between light and dark, or will she drown in a sea of grey?

WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another clichΓ© teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.

1. In the distant future, Earth is ruled by a newly born intelligence of technology, reducing humanity to a mere adjunct. To begin anew, the "Kunpeng" sets off into the vast cosmos, carrying the Nuwa System designed to reboot civilization. "Elemental Magnetic Star," this planet with its complex geography and intense electromagnetic radiation, already home to indigenous life, could it become humanity's final haven? 2. "The moon is orange-red today," Flicker Shadow said, "An orange-red moon signifies the time of our agreement. If she decides to go to the Free People's Tribe, I'll wait for her nearby." Raina Grace looked up at Flame Wave, who was lost in thought. He was slightly bowing his head, his usually impassive and strong brows furrowed in a rare sign of indecision; not quite the unflappable, powerful Silver Sect wizard he usually was. "You're really not coming with me to the Sky Domain?" But she couldn't just go to the Sky Domain; she wanted to forge her own path. He lifted his head, their eyes met, and they understood each other's intentions. 3. It's undeniable, these were the most beautiful and clear eyes Flame Wave had ever seen. Cold and light blue, they shone brighter than stars, wider than the heavens. At this moment, these captivating eyes conveyed apologies, regrets, and determination. She was not born human but chose to be human, to grow as one! 75k words manuscript completed, daily refined updates. Her family all keep telling her that one day her powers would shine through, but now at the age of seventeen almost eighteen she no longer believes them. Her school life is hell with everyone looking down on her because of her lack of powers. With her Dad being Principal though it meant she couldn't even attend a different school. Both the ban of her existence and the only joy in her day is one Caspian Anderson, the most powerful student in the school. When at school he acts like the biggest, most arrogant jerk she had ever known. But Winter has a secret, she knows Caspian very well. He may not acknowledge her at school but every afternoon he was all hers. He was the best friend that any girl could wish for. He was sweet, kind and funny. He never let the fact she had no powers bother him then at all. With the arrival of Zeke Worthington her life became in disarray. He understood her; he knew what it felt like to be the outsider. He told her he had come from a place where he was misunderstood too. Zeke seemed immensely happy to meet Winter, even though he befriended Caspian too. Why Caspian had a problem with it, Winter doesn't understand. It wasn't like he went out of his way to be friends with her during school hours. Even as Winter and Zeke get closer, Caspian becomes increasingly unhappy and agitated with her. She can't change things though, after all in the long run all she can prove is that she has no powers, but maybe she will be surprised.
