Case is a demon who wanders with the Winchester brothers. He's been protecting them and has been showing up to help them with jobs. When Dean was sent to hell, Sam and Case were on their own for a while, before Sam summoned him back to continue hunting with him. Case has been trying to find ways to get Dean out of the pit, with no luck on succeeding. He gets attacked by an angel who appears to be kind to him. He is completely mezmerized by the angels blue eyes.

During a dangerous case with Sam and Dean something goes wrong and Castiel goes missing, this isn't like the other times Cas has disappeared, this is different, it's strange even for Cas. With Castiel gone Dean doesn't eat or sleep he just drinks and prays wondering if Cas can hear him. He gets fragments of things every so often but they are of pain and torture and a redhead he doesn't know the name of.
