Looking at him from across the cafeteria my heart just stops. He bites his lower lip slightly as he reads the following words off of his new book, adjusting his hair from time to time. How can someone you've spent all of high school trying to forget still be the one to hold your heart?.. Stop staring! I look away and my eyes focus on something else... He's still the one I love. After all this time. I can't change that.. But he hates you. I wince at the thoughts coursing through me. You don't know that for sure.. Oh who am I kidding? Of course he hates me. If I was him I'd hate me too. A frown makes its way onto my face. Maybe just one more peek.. I glance back at him only to see his blue eyes no longer on the pages of his book but on me. We lock eyes and everything else disappears for a moment. My brown ones widen in shock. Shit! I try to look away but my eyes stay focused on him, and only him. ..Then something amazing happens.. He smiles. *currently editing some chapters* (This is sort of like the prologue. It is not in the book though. I wrote this so that you all can read it and see what's in store for this book. AMBY AWARDS TOP PICK 2024❤️ I can only see half of his face, reflected in the mirror at the front of the bus, and part of that is obscured by the peak of the black company-branded cap he's wearing. But I can see enough to glean that there's a strong jaw covered in scruff. A wide mouth that looks like it would be prone to smiling. He's wearing glasses with trendy light tortoiseshell frames, and I can't quite discern the colour of his eyes from my position . . . but some weird intuition is telling me that they'll be hazel, and I wonder when my brain is going to catch up. Because I *know* him, don't I? I'm almost certain of it. And he seems to know me, too. Or at least he thinks he does. The way he's glancing over at me lets me in on that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mirren Shepherd has *many* pet peeves. Top of the list, though? Staycations . . . And surprises. So when her girls' trip abroad is cancelled at the last minute and she finds herself roped into a minibus tour of Northern Scotland instead, she isn't remotely happy. And when she finds out who their guide is . . . It's yet another reason for her to dislike surprises. Because Owen Sullivan wasn't so much the one who got away . . . He was the one who just didn't return. And, after she finally got over him, she never expected to see him again. Just North of Anchorage
My first ever Large Project. Written back in 2017 during boring class periods, it doesn't have quite the shine I hold myself to nowadays. It's also not the style I wright in anymore. It was really more of a self-insert friend fiction and looking back on it I still cringe of what I thought 16 years old I thought was good. But that's part of art right. Yahtzee Crowshaw once said, "99% of artists hate the work they made in the past and the other 1% are dirty liars." I hate it and cringe but I still have a fond memory of finishing this and letting out a good sigh of satisfaction. Keep in mind that this story will be riddled with grammar and spelling errors. This is for 2 reasons 1. I want to keep this as a time capsule to look at in a few decades and cringe 2. I've already reached my cringe quote for the year.Complete
